Content aggregator app Planet GoGo, promoted by entrepreneurs Daman Soni and Rajat Gupta, on Monday said that it had raised seed investment from HT Media via its subsidiary HT Digital Media Holdings Limited and North Base Media (NBM).
Founded in September this year, Planet GoGo launched its first android app ‘GoGo’ in November which provides smartphone users updates and content on their lock screen. The money raised will be used mainly for user growth and traction, the company said in a release. Going forward, GoGo will also be supporting multiple languages since vernacular content consumption on the phone is increasing at a rapid pace, the release further said.
The company says that GoGo is a first of its kind lock screen app that delivers personalised content and news to Android users. By using the app, users earn ‘GoGo points’, which they can redeem for free talk time.
“We are pleased to announce our first investment in the mobile content discovery space. This investment is in sync with HT’s endeavour to support new startups in digital media and ad tech space,” said Amit Garg, business head, HT Digital Media Holdings Ltd.
“With the ever increasing number of smartphone users, GoGo focuses to revolutionise content consumption for mobile users without having them to spend for it,” Gupta said. “A large part of the population today relies on apps for everyday content needs and GoGo provides users with curated quality content on-the-go,” he added.
