The AI board headed by CMD Ashwani Lohani has five independent directors, who are appointed for a three-year period. The tenure of the present directors will get over at the end of May.
AI has also suggested names of former Pawan Hans chief RK Tyagi, travel industry big shot and former president of the Indian Association of Tour Operators Subhash Goyal, former AI MD Michael Mascarenhas. “We have suggested a mix of people from different walks of life who can contribute in the airline’s turnaround,” said an official.
Sources said the airline has suggested names of 12-15 people to the aviation ministry, which will then forward the list to the Prime Minister’s Office. “The ministry can add or delete names as it wishes to. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet will make the final selection,” said an official.
