FIIs offload equities worth Rs 278.89 cr

Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 278.89 crore, even as the market closed with a slight gain of 82.60 points or 0.91 per cent.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on Tuesday offloaded equities worth Rs 278.89 crore, even as the market closed with a slight gain of 82.60 points or 0.91 per cent.

As per the provisional data available with the Bombay Stock Exchange, FIIs were the gross sellers of equities worth Rs 1,416.69 crore, while they bought shares valued at Rs 1,137.80 crore, resulting in the net sale of Rs 278.89 crore.

On Monday, FIIs had shed equities worth Rs 11.90 crore in the market, according to the data available on the Securities and Exchange Board of India website.

In Tuesday's market, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also followed the trend of FIIs and shed equities worth Rs 7.75 crore.

However, brokers on behalf of their clients and proprietors showed their confidence in market and invested in equities worth Rs 28.46 crore and Rs 15.29 crore respectively.

Meanwhile, Non-resident Indians (NRIs) also showed interest in market and invested in shares worth Rs 15.29 crore.

BSE's sensitive index Sensex on Tuesday closed at 9,149.30 points, a gain of 0.91 per cent or 82.60 points.
