As part of the agreement, Mattel would acquire space in Central arcades to set up Mattel-branded shops. The shops would sell a whole range of products including toys, bed linen, school accessories, perfumes and shoes.

“We are planning to open 108 such stores in various cities in the coming months, and are in advanced talks with two retail chains,” said Sanjay Luthra, the outgoing managing director of Mattel Toys India. Luthra is taking up a new assignment as the head of Mattel Toys Poland.
