Govt seeks Par nod for Rs 45,000 cr gross additional expense

The government on Monday sought approval from Parliament for gross additional expenditure of Rs 44,945.52 crore during the current fiscal, of which fertilisers subsidy alone would account for Rs 5,000 crore.

The government on Monday sought approval from Parliament for gross additional expenditure of Rs 44,945.52 crore during the current fiscal, of which fertilisers subsidy alone would account for Rs 5,000 crore.

The proposal involves net cash outgo of Rs 19,812.37 crore.

The government has sought extra subsidy of Rs 1,000 crore on imported decontrolled fertilisers and Rs 4,000 crore for indigenous decontrolled fertilisers.

The supplementary demands for grants for 2010-11 were presented in Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee amidst din over demand of a joint parliamentary committee probe by opposition in the spectrum allocation issue.

"Proposals involving net cash outgo will not result in any significant variation in deficient projected in budget estimates 2010-11," the paper placed in Parliament said.

The additional expenditure required by Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution for payment of food subsidy was in excess of Rs 5,000 crore.

Other big expenditure heads include Ministry of Home Affairs Rs 2,000 crore and Ministry of Rural Development Rs 3,000 crore.
