Indian share prices rose 0.12 per cent on Thursday with overseas funds the main buyers as domestic investors stayed on the sidelines due to concerns about US growth prospects, dealers said.

They also said the market was rangebound at the expiry of the monthly futures contract on Thursday.

The 30-share Mumbai stock exchange Sensex index rose 24.2 points to 20,216.71, its fifth straight gain.

"Sporadic overseas fund buying saw modest gains for the market with the next trigger the quarterly earnings season that kicks-off in early January," said a dealer with brokerage Prabhudas Lilladher.
