The grey market in New Delhi has already sold hundreds of units of the coveted device, for which buyers are ready to shell out three times the price in US. The motivation: showing others that they are "digitally" ahead.

A 4GB version of the phone will make you lighter by anywhere between Rs 35,000 and Rs 45,000. The same device, bundled with AT&T’s service, costs $299 (around Rs 12,000) in the US. But considering the fact that even Europe is yet to get the phone, the temptation of pocketing one is too much to resist. Moreover, the dealers at will deftly "unlock" the unit, at an extra cost of Rs 3,000-Rs 5,000.

"I have already unlocked around 500-700 units of the iPhone," said a dealer.
