The company is close to making an investment and is also exploring the incubation model, a senior company official told HT. “We are looking at education and pharmaceutical sectors. However for the new venture we may incubate the company than just make a private equity investment.”

The company could be looking at investing anywhere around $ 500 million in the next couple of years, an industry source said.

A company spokesperson, however, refused to divulge details of the new investments.

According to people familiar with developments, Mahindra Partners is investing in an online company that already has a presence in the education sector. “The scope of the company becoming a dominant player in the category is bright,” said a person close to the development.

Mahindra Partners, launched in 2009, has invested in about nine ventures including a minority stake in East India Company.
