Patni Computer Systems Ltd will set up a software development centre in Chennai with a capacity to accommodate 10,000 workers, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) said on Tuesday.

The project will cost Rs 4.5 billion ($97 million).

The first phase of the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2005 with an investment of around Rs 600 million and will have the capacity for 1,200 workers, the BSE said.
