Mukesh ambani's Reliance Industries is set to sport a new look at its offices and is looking out for new receptionists with experience in managing the front offices of hotels, airlines and other service industries.
Over the last couple of years the company has moved from being a solely heavy industrial organisation to one with many customer facing activities such as large format retail and health care.
The company has advertised for young ladies, below the age of 30, with the requisite skills to apply for the posts of receptionists and front office executives at seven of its offices -- at Nariman Point, Ballard Estate, Worli, Bandra, Santa Cruz, Reay Road and Navi Mumbai.
The preferred industries that have been listed are banking, financial services, advertising, public relations, airlines, hotels, and travel agencies.
A Reliance spokesperson said: “Yes, we are recruiting front office staff for all our offices in Mumbai. We have so many offices here. But you must note that it is not so much only about their looks or their spoken English abilities. There is also a set of skills that are needed in the front office which call for a certain level of intellect. There can arise certain situations at the front office that need to be handled well. So we will also check for that as we hire.”
Varda Pendse of HR-consultancy firm Cerebrus Consultants said: “A lot of old economy companies are now hiring people for their front office from customer facing industries. It is a trend now.”
