The rupee depreciated by 32 paise to 47.02 a dollar in the early trade on Thursday, weighed down by dollar's gain overseas.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the domestic unit fell 31 paise to near a two-week low of 46.70/71 a dollar in the previous session.

Forex dealers said demand for the US dollar from importers and weaker Asian currencies against the American currency mostly weighed on the rupee sentiment.
The Bombay Stock Exchange index, Sensex, fell by 155.41 points, or 0.86 per cent, to 17,914.78 points in the opening trade.
