Rupee down by 10 paise against dollar in early trade

The Indian Rupee weakened by 10 paise to almost three-month low of Rs 46.03 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, on continued demand for the American currency from importers and some banks.

The Indian Rupee weakened by 10 paise to almost three-month low of Rs 46.03 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, on continued demand for the American currency from importers and some banks.

Forex dealers said increased month-end demand for the US currency from importers, mainly oil refiners, and banks kept pressure on the Indian rupee. Weak equity markets also weighed on the Indian rupee.

The rupee had ended 9 paise lower at Rs 45.93/94 against the US dollar in yesterday's session. Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by 168.71 points to 19,236.39 in opening trade today.
