Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the euro and some Asian currencies overseas and a higher opening in the domestic stock market helped the rupee to strengthen.

Yesterday, the rupee had ended 9 paise higher at Rs 46.06/07 against the US dollar, helped by strong rebound in stock markets.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex gained 248.82 points, or 1.52 per cent, to 16,665.15 points in opening trade on Monday.
