Sensex reverses early weak trend, gains 104 points

Erasing initial losses, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, recovered nearly 104 points at 1100 hrs on emergence of buying by general investors amid bulls covering their pending positions.

Erasing initial losses, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, recovered nearly 104 points at 1100 hrs on Friday on emergence of buying by general investors amid bulls covering their pending positions.

The 30-share index, which commenced the day lower by 87 points, moved up by 104.27 points at 13,840.81 at 1100 hrs following a rise in blue-chip stocks.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose 25.45 points at 4,236.35 at the same time. Nifty opened lower by 27.85 points.

Marketmen said the recovery in the prices was mostly backed by fresh buying by investors amid operators covering their short positions.
