The Sensex added nearly 84.12 points at 14,734.63 points surpassing its previous record set of 14,723.88 on February 9.

The rally in the stock market was due to a constant rise in capital goods, banking and metal sectors' share prices.

However, auto, IT and health care indices were still below their peak on February 9.
