Broadcast regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also decided that service providers can charge a maximum Rs 150 per month on those who pick channels over bouquets. The pay channels will have to be paid for separately.
TRAI has not fixed any retail tariff for the pay channels. "As market forces appear to be operating effectively, there is no need for intervention in the matter of retail tariff fixation at present," an official said.
