US Dollar edges up against the rupee

The rupee lost 30 paise to 61.47 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market due to increased demand for the American currency from importers amid appreciation of the greenback overseas.

The US dollar edged up against the rupee at 61.19/21 per dollar but the Pound Sterling finished lower at Rs 101.58/60 per pound at the close of the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market on Friday.
