Full service airline Vistara, promoted by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, gearing up for an October take-off, is busily filling up positions. Needless to add, competing airlines are feeling the breeze.
The airline has hired JetLite quality manager Deepak Joshi to be a part of its safety wing, and IndiGo senior commander Ashutosh Verma has been made head of the safety wing at Vistara.
Verma is a DGCA-approved examiner, trainer and instructor — a mandatory requirement for the key job in an airline.
After getting the initial NoC from the aviation ministry, Vistara has applied for an operator’s permit with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
It is likely to launch operations in October, with the first aircraft set to be delivered to the airline this month.
Joshi, who was handling some key responsibilities as quality control manager at JetLite — including aircraft deliveries — joined Vistara early this month.
The airline has already appointed C S Varadarajan as chief human resources officer,
Phee Teik Yeoh, as CEO. Other officials appointed include Giamming Toh as chief commercial officer and Niyant Maru as chief financial officer.

Captain Roshan Joshi from SIA will head Vistara’s flight operations.
The Tata Group holds a 51% stake in the airline; the rest is held by SIA.
