In an unusual case, 14 people landed at the CISF regional training centre (RTC) in Arakkonam in Vellore at about 9.30am claiming that they have been recruited in the force as constables through an exam conducted by the staff selection commission (SSC).

"The CISF security staff, whom these people met at the entrance gate, was surprised to hear this as there was no joining schedule in the RTC for new recruits. The staff immediately informed senior officials of the force who found that their appointment letters were fake," a CISF spokesperson said.

While ten of these aspirants hail from Hoshiarpur in Punjab, one is from Bikaner in Rajasthan.

"Three people who accompanied them were found to be agents of the fake recruitment process and they were also handed over to the local police along with the 11 aspirants," the spokesperson said.

The candidates brought along these three men to the RTC as they wanted to be sure that they have been recruited in the CISF and that they were not being duped, the spokesperson said.

The RTC Arakkonam is the training centre for fresh CISF recruits in the southern region.
