Two pilgrims died of a cardiac arrest en route to the Amarnath Cave, police here said on Friday.

"A pilgrim identified as Navesh Veer Dubey, 60, a resident of Vareeki in Uttar Pradesh fell unconscious last evening when he was on way to the cave to pay obeisance," the source said.

The source said he was shifted to a nearby health centre but declared as brought dead. In a separate incident, one Kanchar Lawar (35), a resident of Panvat in Maharashtra, died of a cardiac failure when he was headed towards the cave shrine. The bodies have been handed over to the families after post-mortem, police added.
