2 held for plumber's murder; old enmity blamed

The police on Sunday claimed to have solved the murder of a 27-year-old plumber with the arrest of two men, Ajay Kumar and Mahesh Kumar, both residents of Dhanas. Both of them were known to the victim, who also lived in Dhanas, and had an old enmity with him, said the police.

The police on Sunday claimed to have solved the murder of a 27-year-old plumber with the arrest of two men, Ajay Kumar and Mahesh Kumar, both residents of Dhanas. Both of them were known to the victim, who also lived in Dhanas, and had an old enmity with him, said the police. They were produced in a local court and remanded to two-day police custody.

The body of victim Desh Raj was found near a dumping ground in Sector 38 on Saturday. He had missing from his house since Thursday evening, and his body was spotted by passersby who called the cops.

After scanning the call details of the victim's mobile phone, the police traced Rajesh Kumar, who had made the last call to the victim. Rajesh told police that an unknown person had taken his mobile phone for making a call. Acting on clues provided by Rajesh, the police started further investigations and managed to trace Mohit Kumar, resident of Dhanas, whose taxi was used by the accused for committing the crime.

Mohit Kumar told the police that he received a call from Ajay Kumar around 6pm on January 2 asking him to reach Dhanas barrier with his taxi. Mohit reached the spot where Ajay along with his two friends, Mahesh and Desh Raj, was waiting for him. Thereafter, Ajay asked Mohit to take them near a government school in Burail, Sector 45, where they consumed alcohol. Then they went to the garbage plant in Dhanas.
