Two people were killed and three others were injured when the Alto Car they were in collided head on with a Mahindera pick up van near Nagla village on Saha-Shahabad road on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Jitender Saini (40), his sister Paramjit (45) and the injured Arya (6), Muskan (12) and Komal (14) have been referred to PGIMER in Chandigarh.
Locals said Arya and Muskan were children of deceased Jitender and Komal is the daughter of deceased Paramjit. They said that the family belonged to Kurukshetra and was going for a marriage at Barwala in Panchkula district adding that there was head on collusion near railway bridge and both brother and sister died on the spot. They added that the the villagers rushed the injured to the hospital after taking the survivors out of the mangled remains of the car with difficulty.
On information Saha police had also reached the spot and arranged the shifting of the injured children to PGIMER Chandigarh from Cantt Civil Hospital where they were taken first.
Rajpal Singh of Saha police station said that Jitender was driving the ill-fated car adding that a case had been registered against the driver of the van for rash and negligent driving adding that he had fled from the spot after the accident.
