3 held for stealing judge's car, robbery in P'kula

Local police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the case of theft of a Chandigarh-based judge's sports utility vehicle (SUV) with the arrest of three persons, who later also allegedly robbed a conductor at Sector 4 roundabout on July 25 morning.

Local police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the case of theft of a Chandigarh-based judge's sports utility vehicle (SUV) with the arrest of three persons, who later also allegedly robbed a conductor at Sector 4 roundabout on July 25 morning.

The accused have been identified as Sanjay Khosla, a resident of Zirakpur; Daljit Kaur, a resident of Zirakpur; and Aaysha, a resident of Sector 45 of Chandigarh. They were produced in the court on Tuesday from where they were sent to five-day police custody.

The police had recently arrested them for snatching incidents and during investigation found that they had committed robberies also.

Other members of the gang include Tinku, husband of Aaysha, Vineet and Hanny.

Police said Tata Safari was stolen on July 24 night and thereafter the accused robbed a youth, Rahul in Sector 22, Chandigarh. Then the accused reached Sector 4, Panchkula. There they intercepted Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 4-based Haripur village, who was going to Sector 5 bus stand around 5.30am on foot. Three youths alighted from the SUV. One of them hit Kumar with a stick on his back and others snatched his bag containing Rs 6,500.
