Three suicides were reported in a day from across the city here on Tuesday. The victims were in the age group of 20 to 26.
All three victims hanged themselves to death as they were under depression, according to police sources.
In the first incident, a 26-year-old man, hanged himself to death at his friend’s residence in Shastri Nagar, Maniamajra.
Police said Gaganjot Singh went to his friend’s house in Manimajra on Monday night.Gaganjot and his friend Maninder Singh had drinks till late night. After that they went off to sleep in separate rooms.
In the morning, Maninder noticed his friend Gaganjot hanging from the ceiling fan in another room. Maninder got shocked and called the police and informed his friend’s family. Gaganjot was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Gaganjot’s family informed the police that he was suffering from depression.
After completing his education, Gaganjot was still jobless, which was bothering him. No suicide note was found from the spot.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old youth ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Sector 25. The victim was identified as Amit Kumar and he was upset for the past couple of months. Following a verbal spat, Amit’s wife had left his home and gone to her parent’s house. Amit was found hanging by his neighbours, who later informed the police. No suicide note was found from the spot.

Vishal Vaid, who stayed in Hallomajra, had left behind a suicide note. In the suicide note he did not hold anyone responsible for the extreme step. The police said Vishal was also under depression for the past few months.
The police have initiated inquest proceedings in all the incidents.
