36 days after teen went missing, kin demand CBI probe

Son of cattle dealer Manoj Nagpal, Kartik, a student of Class 11, had gone to his maternal uncle's house and was on his way to Rohtak from Jind on July 1 in a train, but he did not reach home and his kin could not establish communication with him ever since.

Kartik's uncle Ashok Nagpal, said when his nephew did not reach home till late night, they launched a search operation. "Next day, we lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police at Jind. After an investigation of 10 days, it was learnt that Kartik did reach Rohtak as captured in the CCTV camera at the railway station, but despite that he did not reach home," he said.

Kartik's mother Meenu Nagpal said that they had been running from pillar to post ever since and had met chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on whose order a special investigative team was also set up, but to no avail. Family members accompanied by people from all sections of society also held a candle march on Monday, demanding that the case be transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation.
