The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has accorded affiliation to seven new government polytechnic colleges of Punjab.
Stating this on Thursday, technical education and industrial training minister Anil Joshi said admissions for 840 seats in these polytechnic colleges for the 2012-13 session had started.
The colleges which have been given affiliation by the AICTE are Sant Baba Attar Singh Government Polytechnic College, Badbar (Barnala); Government Polytechnic College, Kotkapura (Faridkot); Government Polytechnic College, Begowal (Kapurthala); Shaheed Nand Singh Government Polytechnic College, Bareta (Mansa); Government Polytechnic College, Behram (Nawanshahr); Shri Guru Hargobind Singh Sahib Government Polytechnic College, Ranwan (Fatehgarh Sahib); and Government Polytechnic College, Fatuhikhera (Muktsar).
He stated that for admissions to these polytechnic colleges, mentor institutes had been set up at Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda; Government Polytechnic College, Moga; Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar; Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lehragaga (Sangrur); Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur; Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra (SAS Nagar); Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology, Malout.
Joshi said students figuring on the merit list in the state-level joint entrance test (JET-2012) could apply in these government polytechnic colleges till November 17.
