Deputy commissioner of police SP Singh said it was a case of murder and two people had been arrested in the case.

He said that the victim on Tuesday had gone to Lalru to deliver some ornaments to one Jaswinder Singh of Ballopur village in SAS Nagar and did not return. “His brother Manish lodged a missing complaint at Baldev Nagar here on Wednesday, following which a kidnapping case was registered,” said the DCP.

The DCP said a team was constituted and the police detained Jaswinder, who confessed to have killed Rajnish. On the basis of his confession, the police later also arrested one Sachin of Lalru, while one Bahadur Singh was absconding. Jaswinder also told the police that after killing Rajnish, they buried the body in a field in Lalru.

The police then exhumed the body on the basis of information provided by the accused.

A court sent the accused to five-day police custody.
