Amritsar cable operator suicide: Police nab two suspects

The Amritsar police on Thursday nabbed two suspects in the cable operator suicide case. Those arrested have been idnetifed as Pritpal Singh Lalli and Gurwinder Singh Babbi.While Pritpal name figured in the suicide note, Gurwinder was named in the FIR registered by Jaswinder Singh Jassi's widow.

The Amritsar police on Thursday nabbed two suspects in the cable operator suicide case.

Those arrested have been idnetifed as Pritpal Singh Lalli and Gurwinder Singh Babbi.While Pritpal name figured in the suicide note, Gurwinder was named in the FIR registered by Jaswinder Singh Jassi's widow.

The police are yet to arrest local incharge of Fastway Cables Sarabjit Singh Raju and its Managing director Gurdeep Singh. The police is tightlipped on Gurdeep Singh, whose name has been skipped while issuing the lookout circular against all accused. His name does not figure in the FIR despite his name eing mentioned in the suicide note

The Amritsar police commissionerate had released the photographs of the accused at a press conference on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the family of teh deceased cable operator took out another candle march on Wednesday.


40-year-old Jaswinder Singh Jassi committed suicide before the judges of the Supreme Court and the Punjab and Haryana high court during a seminar organised by the Telecom and Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on March 28.

Balbir Kaur, the wife of the victim, has alleged that her husband had been facing harassment since he was named as a witness in the infamous Siti Cable Sex Scandal of 2003 which was probed by the CBI.
