A constable posted at senior superintendent of police (SSP) headquarters in SAS Nagar has alleged rape on pretext of marriage by a colleague constable posted at the same office.
This is a second such case reported in a fortnight where such allegations have been made by a woman constable.
Earlier, a constable posted at made Nayagaon had made similar allegations but no action, except transferring the male colleague out of police station, was taken.
In the complaint, the victim has alleged that she was in a relationship with Gurlal, 26, constable, who made physical relations with her on pretext of marriage.
Gurlal, who hails from Bathinda, had been posted here at SSP office for over a year now.
Commenting on the matter SP (city) Ashish Kapoor said, "We have received the complaint and are looking into it. So far, as the earlier case is considered, action would be initiated soon."
The police are yet to record statements of either that of Gurlal or the victim.
While the police claim that in the Nayagaon police station case, a FIR will be registered but an internal inquiry into the case says that the physical relations were consensual.
A senior official said, "The physical relations were consensual and we are yet to decide on what action can be taken."

However, commenting on the whole issue, a woman constable said, "As per the law, if rape charges are leveled, then a case needs to be registered first and inquiry needs to be conducted. Here nothing has been done and this will in turn lower the morale of women posted in the district. However, if the women are at fault action should be taken accordingly."
