Guddi Devi was going towards Mauli Jagran with a relative, Jaman Singh, riding pillion on a Honda Activa scooter, around 10.30 in the morning.

As they crossed the railway light point and approached the bridge near Kalagram, a truck hit the scooter while overtaking from the right. Both fell on the road; and Guddi Devi, 42, suffered head injury. She was rushed to the PGIMER, where she succumbed. The truck driver was arrested and later bailed out.

Recalling the incident, Shivani said, “My father has now gone back home to Rajasthan to wind up his work so that we can settle here. My younger brother and I are staying at our relatives’ house in Sector 20 for now. But that incident has changed our entire life, having to live without our mother.”
