"The woman was staying in Kasol with her friends," said superintendent of police Ashok Kumar. She told the police that she met Sardana at a festival in Kasol on May 12.

The tourist said she had a severe headache after the festival and asked Sardana for medication.

As per her claim, she fell unconscious after having medicine given by him. The Australian national told the police that when she regained consciousness, she found herself naked in a hotel room in Kasol. She alleged that Sardana sexually abused her.

The tourist then went to Kullu to register a complaint with the police.

The woman was later taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed sexual assault.

"She came to the Kullu police station on May 13. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter" additional superintendent of police Sandeep Dhawal told Hindustan Times.
