Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday described Capt Amarinder Singh as "a liar and traitor who was sent as a Trojan horse by Indira Gandhi in 1984".
In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, Badal said, "This man comes from a family that sheltered Ahmed Shah Abdali in 1764, even after his assault on Harmandar Sahib. From Abdali to Indira Gandhi, the maharajas of Patiala have always been found in the company of those who attacked Akal Takht."
Badal said Captain was lying shamelessly about a meeting between him and a central leader before Operation Bluestar. "He is quoting a white paper prepared by the Indira Gandhi government," the CM said.
Badal said that he was opposed to the Rajiv-Longowal Accord because he wanted the demands of the Punjabis to be accepted before any agreement was signed. "I was bypassed and Amarinder worked through other leaders and got that accord signed," he said.
