Brar said the Badals, instead of safeguarding wider interests of the people, had chosen to publicly mislead them. "Rahul Gandhi has chosen to act responsibly and warn the people against this destructive tendency. He has cautioned the youth against the (drug) menace and had also spoken about the apathy of the present Punjab government which, instead of taking any curative steps, has chosen to mislead the people," he adds.

Brar pointed out that as per data compiled by the World Health Organisation, the sperm count of men from Punjab has drastically gone down due to drug addiction and alcoholism.

He said a leading university of Punjab, following a survey, had claimed that 70% of Punjab men were either drug addicts or suffering from the alcohol problem.
