Another Olympian from Haryana gave India a reason to smile on Saturday. Vikas Krishan, the 20-year-old boxer from Bhiwani district, entered the welterweight quarter-finals by defeating American opponent Errol Spence, 13-11.

During the match that seesawed between the two pugilists, the scorecard was 9-8 in favour of Krishan before the beginning of the third round. While Krishan led the first round (4-2), Spencer came back with six points in the second (9-8). In the final round, a tired Krishan won 4-3 and booked a place in the quarter-finals.
