BJP holds anti-Shinde protests in Punjab, Haryana

Police used mild force to control the agitating BJP activists in this joint capital of Punjab and Haryana even as the safforn party held protests across the two states against Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's 'Hindu terror' remarks.

The protest in Chandigarh was led by UT BJP president Sanjay Tandon and the party activists shouted slogans against Shinde and demanded his immediate dismissal from the Union cabinet.

Chandigarh Police used mild force to disperse the irated BJP activists and took some of them into custody for violation of prohibitory orders imposed under Section 144.

Protests were held at several towns in Punjab and Haryana where BJP activists shouted slogans against the home minister and they also burnt his effigy at some places.

Reports of BJP demonstration came from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Phagwara in Punjab and Rohtak, Ambala, Karnal and Panchkula.
