BMW thieves sent to police remand

Judicial magistrate sent two car lifters Sunil Kumar and Amandeep to two-day police remand on Wednesday, who had allegedly decamped with luxury car BMW X-5 of Chandigarh-based car dealer Krishana Automobiles from HUDA’s Sector 9 on December 30.

Judicial magistrate sent two car lifters Sunil Kumar and Amandeep to two-day police remand on Wednesday, who had allegedly decamped with luxury car BMW X-5 of Chandigarh-based car dealer Krishana Automobiles from HUDA’s Sector 9 on December 30.

Sources said the duo was produced in the court on Wednesday after their arrest on January 6, adding that Sunil was nabbed at Dehradun and Amandeep was arrested from Kalka Chowk.

Posing as customers, the accused locked the company’s salesman Rakesh Sharma and car driver Surjit Singh in a bathroom after drugging them.
Locals had informed that an unidentified youth rented a house in Sector 9 on December 29 and had called the automobile dealer expressing intention to purchase the car and had asked him for the test drive.

They added that the company officials reached at the given address with the car and the accused took the keys for the drive, while their serving tea laced with sedatives to company officials.

Later, both accused fled with the car and also took away their mobiles and the laptop. Police said the duo has divulged that four persons were involved in the crime, adding that they had even given an advertisement in the paper to sell a used BMW.
