Both the dimpled beauties got a fair share of votes, while one emerged as the winner the other fetched nothing less than over one lakh votes. Both BJP’s candidate Kirron Kher (61) and Gul Panag (35) of Aam Aadmi party, based in Mumbai had come to the city only a month before the polls. Kirron, in fact, created history by becoming the first woman MP from the city and with highest margin ever. She got 1.91 lakh votes while Gul secured more than 1lakh votes. However, both the candidates were termed ‘outsiders’ and ‘parachute candidates’ by their own party members initially.

During her campaign, Kirron faced a divided local unit with three leaders eyeing the MP ticket but failed to get that. Even the internal rifts within local AAP leaders affected the winning prospects of the party.

Gul’s impact among the city youngsters was quite evident even during when she had been campaigning on her bikes.
