While Ratia (SC), a seat held by INLD fell vacant after the demise of sitting MLA, Gian Chand Odh, Adampur assembly seat fell vacant when Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) chief, Kuldeep Bishnoi quit it after being elected recently to Lok Sabha from Hisar.

The EC’s announcement of bypoll schedule for the two assembly constituencies has come as a surprise as it was perceived that the by poll will happen simultaneously with the assembly elections in Punjab early next year. Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sumita Misra said that bypoll notification will be issued on November 5.

The last date for making nominations would be November 12. Nominations would be scrutinized on November 14 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature would be November 16. Polling will be held on November 30 and counting will take place on December 4. She said that the election process would be completed before December 7.

Adequate numbers of EVMs have been made available and all steps have been taken to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of these machines.
