The police are gathering the data of criminals from Punjab and Haryana, who were involved in the carjacking incidents in these respective states, to get a clue about the culprits committing carjacking in the city. Meanwhile, the police recovered the stolen Endeavour SUV of St Soldier School (SAS Nagar) director Karandeep Singh from Panipat on Saturday, but no arrest was made.

The police also learnt to have gathered information about gang members involved in snatchings, and were out on bail.

Police say these thefts appear to be handiwork of a specific gang, as in both the cases the accused committed crimes in such a way that they could easily enter in SAS Nagar area because of the porous tricity border.

As similar incidents have also taken place in SAS Nagar, the Chandigarh police are also sharing the details with the SAS cops. Police said the criminals, who allegedly assaulted and snatched the Honda City car from a 20-year-old engineering student, Kartik Gupta, near Sector 49 on Tuesday night, had chased him before attacking him, and that they might be some professional gang members.
