"I got a call from the CBI team and they have asked me to appear before them at 9.30am on Tuesday," said Vidhu' father Navneet Jain who shifted to Ludhiana after the incident.

According to sources, this is the second visit of CBI officers to the town. The officials had reportedly visited Malerkotla earlier too without any intimation to the local police.

"After reaching the town, they went to the spot where the incident took place and spoke to the incharge of police station (City 1)," said an officer of Malerkotla Police, adding that police officials who were involved in the investigation would be called on Tuesday and the CBI team may stay in the town for two-three days.

Malerkotla DSP William Jeji said, "I came to know that the CBI team has reached Malerkotla for the investigation but they have not approached me yet. We will cooperate with them in the investigation."
