Chandigarh: Five more swine flu cases reported

Five patients were tested positive for swine flu in the city on Saturday. Two of them hail from the tricity.

Five patients were tested positive for swine flu in the city on Saturday. Two of them hail from the tricity.

According to health officials, the patients include a 64-year-old man from SAS Nagar, a 27-year-old man from Sector 27 of Panchkula, a 35-year-old man from Barnala, a 43-year-old man from Patiala and a 39-year-old woman from Kapurthala.

They are under treatment at the isolation ward of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

So far, three people have succumbed to H1N1in the tricity. Recently, a 42 -year-old woman of Sector 25 had succumbed to the virus at the PGIMER. On Wednesday, 49-year-old Rajbir Singh of Sector 70, SAS Nagar, died while undergoing treatment at the PGIMER.

The first confirmed case of swine flu this year in Chandigarh was reported on January 8.
