Chandigarh: Man injured in accident succumbs to injuries

A 40-year-old man who was hit by a Mahindra Bolero Pick-Up truck on Sunday succumbed to his injuries at Government Multispecialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, on Tuesday.

A 40-year-old man who was hit by a Mahindra Bolero Pick-Up truck on Sunday succumbed to his injuries at Government Multispecialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, on Tuesday.

The victim, Narpinder Singh, was a resident of Ratwara Sahib in SAS Nagar district.

Investigating officer Balbir Singh said Singh was on his way to Sector 26 from Kalagram on his Honda Activa scooter (PB65-F6601) when the Mahindra pick-up truck ( CH01-TA2053) hit him at the railway station lightpoint on Sunday.

Singh said the victim was rushed to a hospital in Manimajra from where he was referred to GMSH-16 where he died on Tuesday.

He said the accused driver Mitarpal Singh, a resident of Kishangrah village, was booked and arrested under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Manimajra police station. He was later released on bail.
