The vice-chancellor has constituted a committee for preparing for the NAAC's visit and the university has also postponed the syndicate meeting which was scheduled to be held on February 28. The syndicate meeting has now been rescheduled for March 8.

NAAC is an autonomous body set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country.

Accreditation is a voluntary system of evaluation of higher education institutions and programs based on self-evaluation and peer-assessment for improvement of academic quality and public accountability. PU's accreditation had expired in January 2013.

NAAC will give weight to various aspects such as curriculum, teaching, evaluation, research, infrastructure and innovative practices. NAAC team had last visited campus in 2009 and had showered praises on the varsity.
