CII Agro-tech fair kicks off in city

The 11th Indian Premier Biennial Agro Technology and Business Fair commenced at the Parade Ground, Sector 17, here on Saturday. The four-day event, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was inaugurated by Punjab and Haryana chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Manohar Lal Khattar, respectively, along with Brad Wall, premier of Saskatchewn, Canada.

The four-day event, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was inaugurated by Punjab and Haryana chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Manohar Lal Khattar, respectively, along with Brad Wall, premier of Saskatchewn, Canada.

With over 10 concurrent shows and over 160 exhibitors, including as many as 36 from overseas, the agro-tech fair managed to pull heavy crowd on the first day.

Shows were segregated into farm tech, food expo, good health, food tech, implementex, livestock expo, water and irrigation management, farm services, states of India pavilion and international pavilion.

Aiming to boost the deteriorating agriculture growth, private and public exhibitors from as many as 10 countries, including the Netherlands, Germany and South Africa, displayed agriculture machines and equipment in the fair. Big shots of the field, including Mahindra Ltd, Class India, DCM Shriram, Honda Siel Power Products Ltd, and Godrej Agrovet Ltd, also displayed their exhibits.

Thousands of farmers who thronged the venue were made aware of the latest and modern technologies in agriculture. Enthused with the new available agriculture mechanism in the market, farmers were seen enquiring about the functioning of latest machines.

The baker machines, tractors, crop tiger remained a major attraction for visitors. People also showed huge interest in processed and packaged food expo.
