CITU protest Maruti workers' dismissal in Punjab

Centre of Indian Trade uniona (CITU) on Saturday held protest rallies and demonstrations in various parts of Punjab against the dismissal of 500 workers by Maruti at its Manesar plant.

Centre of Indian Trade uniona (CITU) on Saturday held protest rallies and demonstrations in various parts of Punjab against the dismissal of 500 workers by Maruti at its Manesar plant.

CITU Punjab General Secretary Raghunath Singh accused the management of "vindictive" attitude towards workers.

He also accused the management of indulging in unfair labour practices and held the state government responsible for violent incident at the plant.

CITU demanded that dismissal of 500 workers by Maruti be withdrawn.

Protest rallies were held at Ludhiana, Raiokot, Sangrur, Barnala, Mansa, Ropar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Nangal, Kotkapoora, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Chandigarh.
