Justice Uma Nath Singh stayed the arrest of Raninder Singh after the preliminary hearing of his application to prevent his arrest. The petitioner, in case of any arrest, be released immediately, the court directed.

Raninder Singh contended in his petition that his entire family was being implicated in the case on the statement of an accused Chetan Gupta, a Delhi businessman, arrested by the Vigilance Bureau recently.

The counsel appearing for the state argued that the bureau had recovered a pen drive and computer from Chetan Gupta's possession, which revealed that Rs 21 crore had been transferred to Raninder's account on the day auction in the project was conducted.

Presently, not an accused in the case, Raninder Singh has filed the application apprehending his arrest. His mother Parneet Kaur, a Lok Sabha MP, who is not an accused in the case, also secured an anticipatory bail last month.
