Clash between undertrials in Mohali court premises

Chaotic scenes prevailed inside the premises of the local court on Friday following a clash between members of two groups who have been charged in different criminal cases. Following a heated argument after emerging from the court, one of them, Rajat Sharma, who has been accused of murdering a local lawyer, Amandeep Sethi, slapped a member of the other group, Lawrence Bishnoi, a former leader of the Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU).

Chaotic scenes prevailed inside the premises of the local court on Friday following a clash between members of two groups who have been charged in different criminal cases. Following a heated argument after emerging from the court, one of them, Rajat Sharma, who has been accused of murdering a local lawyer, Amandeep Sethi, slapped a member of the other group, Lawrence Bishnoi, a former leader of the Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU).

Bishnoi was accompanied by a Student Organisation of India (SOI) leader Amandeep Multani, both of whom have been charged in an assault case. The two were returning to the police van after attending a court hearing. Supporters of both groups joined them later and began using abusing each other. The members of the two groups did not stop confronting each other even inside the police van and all the three accused were later sent back to jail. After the incident security was beefed up inside the court premises.

According to the police, old enmity appeared to be the reason behind the clash. Additional session & district judge Tarsem Mangla adjourned the hearing in the Sethi murder case till August 18. Besides Sharma, the others accused in the case are Sunil Bhanot, Vishal, Dharminder Singh, Onkar Singh, Sanbir Singh, Deepak Kaushal and Kovin Sushant.
