CM for expediting work on residential schools for poor

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday directed the education department to complete civil works and recruitment of faculty for the six upcoming residential schools for poor meritorious students so that these could be started at the earliest during this academic session.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday directed the education department to complete civil works and recruitment of faculty for the six upcoming residential schools for poor meritorious students so that these could be started at the earliest during this academic session.

Presiding over a review meeting of the society constituted for the purpose, the chief minister said these schools must be made functional for needy and deserving students, besides providing them free hostel facility, a spokesman said here.

These schools (one each) are being established in Mohali, Bathinda, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala for brilliant students of government schools scoring 80% or above marks in matriculation.
