Committee constituted for induction of paralegal volunteers

Bhatti is the chairman of the committee while DLSA secretary and civil judge (senior division) are the members of the committee. Paralegal volunteers will be selected on the basis of test or interview.

"Since the paralegal volunteers are doing appreciable work in manning the front offices and legal aid clinics at Rupnagar (including Rupnagar Jail) and Anandpur Sahib the DLSA has decided to open new legal aid clinics,"said chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary DLSA secretary Gopal Arora.

The DLSA has invited applications from those with matriculation degree to get enlisted as paralegal volunteers. Teachers, doctors, retired government employees, senior citizens, students of law and social work, Anganwadi workers and members of non-political voluntary organisations, women neighborhood groups and self-help groups may apply, Arora said.

He added that the trained volunteers would be deployed at legal aid clinics in panchayats. Further, they would be exposed to issues concerning women, children, students, farmers, prisoners, victims of natural disasters, differently-abled, victims of human trafficking, members of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, bonded labourers, consumers Arora said.
