Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi extensively toured the Majha region to woo voters, the final verdict clearly pointed out that the big three of the Congress failed to make an impact.

In Amritsar district of the Majha region, where the Prime Minister addressed a rally, the Congress managed to win just three out of 11 seats.

In Tarn Taran district, where Rahul Gandhi came down to address a rally and announced Capt Amarinder as chief ministerial candidate of the party, the Congress managed to get one of the four seats.

Interestingly, Ramanjit Sikki, who won from Khadoor Sahib, was not present in the rally jointly addressed for Gurdaspur and Pathankot segments by Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi.

The party managed to get five seats out of 10.

Things are no different in the Doaba region, where out of the 23 assembly segments, the Congress managed to win just six. Both AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had addressed rallies in Doaba.
